Who's runnin this joint?

Bully Roundup started early summer of 2009 and began as just a group of people getting together to play with their dogs. Soon questions starting arising, such as "what if we invited other people to play?" "what if we turned this into a pit bull thing?" Not long after, Bully Roundup was born.

We've had over 30 Roundups and over 50 different participants! We're constantly expanding and meeting new people and their dogs. Bully Roundup has started the 2010 year off with a facelift and goals that include summer training classes, Canine Good Citizenship preparation and testing, and educational classes for the community.

We all come from different backgrounds but have one thing in common, a love of dogs. It's our hope that by supplying a safe place for bully owners and their lovers to come play, we'll encourage the positive socialization that's needed for the not-so-common dog-social bully.

Amanda Bloom is a web-designer! She's 24 and has built Bully Roundup from the ground up over the last year. Having been involved with dogs in one way or another, Amanda has a passion that's unchanged since her first days at a pet store over 10 years ago. Working with pit bulls all began when a tiny little white puppy was left on the counter of her job. It was her disgust with back-yard breeders, a love of the breed, and a hate of the negative image on pit bulls that drove her to work so hard to make what Bully Roundup is today.

Vice President and Co-Founder
Joe@bullyroundup.org
Joe's pet experience is about as varied as it comes. Growing up he always had pets, and was known as the kid with the zoo at home. He's done the retail thing, worked as a bather in a grooming shop, lead training classes at one of the major pet chains, and worked as a dog walker/wrangler at a daycare. These days he's a Jack of all Trades for a local pet insurance company. Joe loves playing with the dogs and seeing all of the puppies at the RoundUp, and feels really fortunate to be involved with something that's already doing great things for a great but sadly misunderstood breed.

La Reanna LaGuire is a 23 year old Para-Educator. She has also been with Bully Roundup from the beginning and loves the whole idea of it. Although she has never owned a pitbull, she has a deep compassion for them and wants to see a change in societies outlook on pitbulls. She is a huge animal lover and has had dogs around her all of her life. Onyx is her current dog and she hopes to get him certified as a therapy dog and to own a home soon to become a foster parent to shelter-bound pits.

Founding Dogs Currently Still With Us...

Cow
Not only is she an American Pit Bull Terrier, but she’s also deaf. As if those two things weren’t enough, she was abandoned by the back yard breeder who owns her parents at a mere 5 weeks old. Luckily Amanda was working at the pet store he dropped her at, and took her home to foster her. Now, as she approaches her second birthday in April 2010, she’s an AKC-certified Canine Good Citizen, and a shining star breed ambassador, improving the pit bull’s image one tail-wag at a time.

Onyx
Onyx is a 1 year old Affenpinscher. He was purchased from a breeder in Eastern Washington at 16 weeks old. He is a very quirky, affectionate, and hyper dog. Although he isn't a pitbull, he attends Bully Roundup quite regularly. He is known as the running stuffed animal that the pitties like to chase and play with. He has a very happy personality and just loves his human and attention from anyone!

Lei Lei
A prime example of what love, patience, good leadership, and a little bit of positive reinforcement and good dog food can do. When Lei first came into our lives she was dull-coated, ill-mannered, and lonely.  She's now shiny, only jumps when you ask her to, and actually wags her tail. She's also a prime example of the fact that bullies can be completely happy without dog friends.  As much as we love her, you won't see her at the RoundUp, because she's just plain not dog social and that's ok.
