Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Isn't this just asking for a fight?
A. No. We control the number of dogs allowed to every single playgroup based on everything from their age and gender to their play style. We also keep the number of humans at a maximum to allow for complete supervision at all times. When someone's getting a little too excited, they take a time out for a bit to cool off and then come back into the game.

Q. Is it safe to bring my kids?
A. We suggest you leave the little ones at home. While most of our dogs are child-friendly, the chances of them getting knocked over are rather large! If you haven't been to a Roundup before, there's quite the thundering herd at times!

Q. What should I bring?
A. Bring your dog! DUH! We ask if your dog wears a pinch collar or choke chain that you please bring a regular collar or harness to be worn during play for safety reasons. We have members who bring camping chairs to relax in, cameras, and snacks. Food is welcome as long as you're okay with a swarming audience while you eat.

Q. Should I bring treats?
A. Treats are fine. Just bring enough to share (cause you know you won't be able to turn those sad eyes down!). If your dog has allergies, make sure you bring treats safe for your dog to have.

Q. What happens if someone's dog hurts mine?
A. By coming to our playgroups you acknowledge that your dog is your own responsibility. If your dog is injured by another dog during a playgroup, it's your responsibility to care for the injury. Please read our terms of use if you need further insight into this matter.

Q. Can I come early to let my dog blow steam off?
A. Sure! Check the calendar to see if there are any introductions going on before that Roundup so you don't waste your time. Introductions are done with tester dogs only and until we have a good feeling for the dog being introduced, it's best to keep the stress levels as low as possible.

Q. What can I do to help?
A. There are many ways to help out at Roundups. You can bring toys/tennis balls to share that you don't mind getting destroyed, water (for dogs), or snacks/beverages for the hoomans. You can also make sure your dog is a good ambassador for the breed. Make suggestions for improvement! Don't be afraid to ask questions! And be sure to let us know about any resources you know of for bully breed owners! You can also donate to help us with supplies!!

Q. Why do you have the rules you do?
A. The rules we have fashioned were carefully drawn up with the safety of all 4 and 2-legged participants involved. If you'd like to learn more about why we require your dog to be fixed or under 6 months to play, head here to read some good reasons.

Q. What will my information on the "Joining Questionnaire" be used for?
A. We use this information to determine the probability of your dog getting along with the other dogs in the organized playgroups. We also use the information provided before each Roundup to ensure all dogs in attendance are the best possible match. Things we consider are play style, age, gender, habits, likes and dislikes, etc. Filling out the form doesn't automatically set you up for participation.

Q. What if my dog doesn't like/get along with _____ but is fine with everything else?
A. We try our best to make the group fun for everyone involved. If we know ahead of time that your dog doesn't like small dogs, we try our best to coordinated a playgroup that's small-dog-free. And so on, and so forth...We can't guarantee that every playgroup will have 100% compatibility, but we do everything we can ahead of time to ensure all goes well.
